Please note that not all the plants offered from the Kinnebrew Daylily Gardens appear here, there are many others being offered during the live auction of John Sr., John Jr., and Marjory from previous years. Special Thanks to the Kinnebrew family for donating extra plants to our auction this year, we greatly appreciate it. You will be missed at this years meeting (Julie too) but we will see you in 2010.

SPRING 2009 INTRODUCTIONS
June Williams Memorial
*June Williams Memorial (Kinnebrew, '09) (June Williams Seedling X Velvet Ribbons) 11”, ev, rec, TET – June Williams was one of our very  dearest friends.  Without her guidance and contributions to our hybridizing program, we would certainly not be where we are today.  In her latter years, June was concentrating her personal breeding efforts on Tet-spider & Tet-spider variants.  She was determined to reach this goal without the use of any diploid conversions, using only Tets derived from the Bill Munson line.  She developed an outstanding seedling, but was taken from us before she could make it a registered cultivar.  We were allowed to grow this beauty and breed with it.  Although this area of hybridizing had not appealed to us before, we decided to jump in and follow up on June’s efforts.  This is the first of several releases from that seedling and we are very proud for it to carry June’s name.  This big, dark purple variant is a real standout in the garden.  Tall, well branched 36” scapes carry up to 24 buds.  Quick to increase and fertile, but not an easy pod set.

Value $150 SF
Karen Stephens
*Karen Stephens (Kinnebrew, '09) ((SC Rebel Yell x Jerry Nettles) x Pure Indulgence)) 6”, sev, rec, TET – With Randy Stephens as our  cover flower this past year, it only stands to reason that we name a flower for his “better half” this year.  Besides saturated dark red color and ruffled gold edge, Karen has as good a plant habit as you can find anywhere in our garden.  Huge plants produce strong, very well branched scapes.  At times, we have counted as many as 4 or 5 lateral branches, plus the top.  Tremendous fertility is another highly favorable trait.  It seems that you can set a pod any time you like, with any pollen you choose.  With this in mind, many of our very best seedlings are from Karen, especially as a pod parent.  These range from reds and blacks  with gold edges, reds with gold and white toothy edges, to even some doubles, as this flower will occasionally double late in the season.  Unfortunately, darker colors have proven difficult for us to capture on an image, so please take our word for the beauty of this flower.  Outstanding 30” scapes hold up to 32 buds.  Strong multiple bloomer.  Again, extremely fertile.

Value $125 SF
Red Wine Romance
*Red Wine Romance (Kinnebrew, '09) (June Williams Seedling X Velvet Ribbons) 10”, ev, rec, TET – A full sibling to June Williams Memorial, this narrow burgundy red has a slightly smaller bloom but shows more motion, with regard to twisting, turning, etc.  Again, narrow has not been our direction in the past.  However, sometimes you have to step back and observe plant performance.  Red Wine Romance is an outstanding performer in a row or clump.  A single clump might have 6 scapes with 18 to 20 flowers open on a particular day.  Despite the narrow segments, no one can overlook such a brilliant display.  Scapes 30”with great branching, carrying up to 24 buds.  Vigorous and quick to increase.  Fertile, but not an easy pod set.

Value $125.00 SF

Spacecoast Better Late
*Spacecoast Better Late (Kinnebrew, '09) ((Forbidden Fantasy X Jerry Nettles) x Alexa Kathryn)) 6”, sev, rec, TET – Do you like late season bloom?  If so, this will certainly be a lily that you will enjoy.  Over the past three years, the 1st of July is the earliest that we have flowered this one.  That is very late for our Florida season.  However, it always presents a pleasant surprise, to see fresh new bloom as the rest of garden is coming to a close.  Round, full lavender purple flowers are garnished with “whoper” chartreuse edge.  Strong 26”  scapes, hold up to 20 buds.  Vigorous, quick to increase, and fertile both ways.

 Value $125.00 SF
Spacecoast Brazen Bandit
*Spacecoast Brazen Bandit (Kinnebrew, '09) (SC Shiner X Good Ol’ Boy Seedling) 5 1/2”, sev, rec, TET – Sharp, crisp color contrast, this is the beauty of an eyed daylily.  With it’s bright orange base and bold black eye/edge, this is a prime example.  Mid-sized flowers are round and ruffled with saturated color, packing a serious punch in the garden.  As with all of our Spacecoast Shiner heritage plants, the plants themselves are extremely vigorous with corn stalk scapes, good bud count, and strong fertility.  Seedlings from this standout show a very wide range of color combinations.  Scapes are 28”, with up to 22 buds.  Again, Easily fertile both ways.
Value $100.00 SF
Spacecoast Color Scheme
*Spacecoast Color Scheme (Kinnebrew, '09) (SC Small Talk X Lil’ Red Wagon) 3 ½”, sev, rec, TET – They say, “Good things come in small packages”, here is some hard evidence to that point.  This little fellow grabbed as much attention as any of the larger flowers in our garden this past spring.  It stands to reason that a yellow crossed with a red might give some unusual looks.  However, we did not foresee this bazaar, yet pleasing, color combination.  Distinct flowers are round and ruffled with cherry-red petals and somewhat tan sepals.   This is our first ever bicolor registration.  With our Spacecoast Tiny Perfection solidly in the background,  plant habit and proper proportion are always in order.  Sturdy 22” scapes, sport up to 36 buds and regularly have 4 and 5 flowers open at a time.  Fertile both ways.

Value $100.00 SF
Spacecoast Burgundy Belle
*Spacecoast Burgundy Belle (Kinnebrew, '09) (SC Southern Belle X Mississippi Earl Watts) 6 1/2”, ev, rec, TET – This fine lady was quite a pleasant surprise for us, especially from a cross of two lavender-pinks.  The color is a cool, clear burgundy with an interesting lighter halo and big gold edge.  Although there are no toothy parents in the background, the edge is often somewhat jagged or serrated in appearance.  However, we haven’t bred this one for toothy edges.  Instead we have concentrated on expanding the inner halo and moving this lighter color into the edge.  So far, the seedlings have been very nice with many more to bloom in the upcoming year.  A full sibling to Spacecoast Miss Margaret, this beauty has 30” scapes that carry  up to 20 buds.  Easily fertile both ways.
Value $125.00 SF
Spacecoast Dark Obsession *Spacecoast Dark Obsession (Kinnebrew, '09) (Karen Stephens X Sibling) 6”, sev, rec, TET –  We love dark rich colored flowers and hope that you do as well.  This is our first release from Karen Stephens.  Due to great growing habit and ability to increase quickly, it is being released at the same time as its noteworthy parent.  Also, to its credit, it possesses a darker base and a more intense bubbly gold edge.  We hate to compare the child to the parent, but, if we had to choose between them, we would have to take them both!!  Those who are breeding for black reds with edges,  this is a must have.  Again, much like its parent, scapes are a lofty 34”with numerous laterals, supporting up to 40 buds.  Multiple bloomer.  Easily fertile both ways.

Value $125 SF
Spacecoast Eye for Passion *Spacecoast Eye for Passion (Kinnebrew, '09) (Elisa Dallas X Renie’s Delight) 6”, sev, rec, TET – Hybridizing is easy!  You just cross one cover flower with another cover flower.  Well, at least this philosophy worked once. Renie’s Delight, our ’05 cover, crossed with Elisa Dallas, Dan Trimmer’s ’05 cover, seemed to make a logical match.  The result being a flawless, ruffled cream with red eye/edge, and a glowing green throat.  Flowers are round and flat with heavy substance, opening perfectly with every bloom.  This lily is among the first to bloom for us, and has about 4 to 5 sets of scapes during a Florida season.  Plant habit is also stellar, giving 30” well branched scapes carrying up to 30 buds.  Extremely fertile, producing offspring with big, intense green throats.
Value $125 SF
Spacecoast Irish Illumination *Spacecoast Irish Illumination (Kinnebrew, '09) (SC Hope Beacon X Mike Longo) 5 ¾”, sev, rec, TET –  Based on flower alone, one might not be thoroughly impressed with this lily.  It is a pretty face with heavy ruffling and brilliant lemon yellow color.  However, total performance sets this one apart from the rest.    First and foremost, its scape is almost unbelievable.  Mike Longo, our 2006 release, is renowned for its incredible  scape and high bud count.  This offspring goes above and beyond those levels.  On fully established plants, scapes tower 36” with numerous lateral branches, carrying up to 50 buds or better.  There have been days, in our garden, when we have counted as many as 8 flowers open on a single scape.  That is “Performance”!!  In addition, strong plant habit and extreme pod fertility shouldn’t be overlooked.  Winner “Best Seedling on Scape” Lake City Show 2008.
Value $125 SF

Spacecoast Lunatic Fringe *Spacecoast Lunatic Fringe (Kinnebrew, '09) (SC Sprawler x Forestlake Ragamuffin) x Mike Longo)) 6”, sev, rec, TET – A full sibling to last year’s Spacecoast Fringe Benefit, this looker has many of the same characteristics.  Most apparent is the trademark tentacled-toothy edge, derived from Forestlake Ragamuffin breeding.  However, this is our first to show a picoteed edge as well.  The flower base color is a pastel blend with an outer rose blush, just before the edge turns wild.  Much admired by garden visitors, this selection has real impact in the field.  Makes vigorous plants, with strong 24”scapes, holding up to 20 buds.  Fertile, a good breeder for those bazaar edges.
Value $150 SF
Spacecoast Miss Margaret *Spacecoast Miss Margaret (Kinnebrew, '09) (SC Southern Belle x Mississippi Earl Watts) 7”, ev, rec, TET – A full sibling to Spacecoast Burgundy Belle, this lily is more of what you might expect from the cross.  Very large, lavender-pink flowers possess a slightly lighter halo and a robust, golden edge.  However, the flower form is very different.  Although the individual segments are fairly wide,  overall the form is more loose with the sepals turning upward, giving a sense of motion.  Its almost looks as if it wants to take flight.  Our dear, dear friend Margaret Tucker, of Jacksonville , picked out this one, and we’re naming it for her.  We love you, Margaret!!  Scapes are a stout 30”, carrying buds 20.  Easily fertile.

Spacecoast Modern Symmetry *Spacecoast Modern Symmetry (Kinnebrew, '09) (SC Technical Knockout x SC Behavior Pattern) 5 ½ ”, sev, rec, TET – Finally, we are starting to get some new breaks in the appliqué patterns.  We were able to accomplish this by introducing our Spacecoast Shiner Line into our Spacecoast Sea Shell Line.  Previously, all of our throat patterned lilies were in the cream & purple color range.  The plan here was to move into new, exciting color combinations and maintain the appliqué.  We bloomed hundreds of seedlings in this effort and, finally, this one flowered.  We believe this to be the key to unlock the door.  We will bloom hundreds of offspring this next year and we hope to see a very diverse range of color.  Yellows w/red and black eyes, oranges w/red and black eyes, all with the patterned throats.  This is our goal.  Plants are vigorous with strong 28” scapes, carrying up to 20 buds.  Easily fertile.
Value $150 SF
Spacecoast Ojo Rojo *Spacecoast Ojo Rojo (Kinnebrew, '09) (SC Firestarter Seedling x Footloose Fancy) 6 ½”, sev, rec, TET – This big bright yellow with red-orange eye/edge, was the most admired “flower” in our garden this past year.  Visitors simply could not get past it, without stopping for a longer look.  We have also been very fond of it and have used it heavily in our breeding program.  Truthfully, for us, it is a little bit scape challenged.  Scapes are a stout 18” which place the blooms just above the foliage.   Although this is not terribly short, we obviously would prefer greater scape height.  However, due to popular opinion, we have decided to release it anyhow.  No doubt, it has a stunning bloom, but we would consider that mostly a hybridizer’s plant.  Makes vigorous plants that increase quickly.  Fertile both ways, producing a wide array of gorgeous red eyed seedlings.
Value $125 SF
Spacecoast Pansy Pinafore *Spacecoast Pansy Pinafore (Kinnebrew, '09) (Madeline Nettles Eyes x SC Shiner Seedling) 3”, sev, rec, TET – Size wise, this is our smallest offering of the year.  However, this small, bright yellow with black eye/edge doesn’t lack distinction.  Madeline Nettles Eyes is, no doubt, our very best breeder for eyed/edged lilies of the small and miniature variety.  With super color contrast and a darling flower form, this is a perfect garden addition.  We need quality small and miniature flowers to fully compliment our large flower collections.  Very proportional to plant size, stocky 20”scapes hold up to 18 buds and often show multiple bloom.  Easily fertile both ways.
Value $75 SF
Tom Adams *Tom Adams (Kinnebrew, '09) (SC Shiner x Courting Trouble) 5 ½”, sev, rec, TET – Again, we absolutely love dark, rich colored daylilies.  As a result, this may be our favorite from this collection.  However, here we have a bird of a much different feather.  The base color is a medium to dark purple which is complimented by a dominant black eye & edge.  The whole flower has the look of plush velvet.  Finally, a silvery-white edge accents  each blossom.  During rebloom, this edge will become heavier and show some occasional teeth.  Any breeder can see the multitude of possibilities here.  Whether you are working toward eyes & edges, super dark colors, or even toothy edges, this is a solid choice.  Which brings to light another point, Tom Adams produces seed like no other.  Named for our good friend and fellow daylily fancier from Ocean Springs , Mississippi .  Scapes are a stocky 22” holding up to 20 buds.  Again, extremely fertile.

Black Velvet Baby
*Black Velvet Baby (Kinnebrew, '08) (Burgundy Baroness x Ebony Jewel) x Lil’ Red Wagon)) 3 ½”, sev, rec, TET – Those who grow and enjoy Lil’ Red Wagon will be crazy about it’s black velvet offspring. This little darling has many of those same fine characteristics with an alluring color that we’ve not seen in a small flower tet. Also impressive is plant to scape proportion. Basically, the scape matches the plant perfectly. Flowers are full, round, and ruffled with good heavy substance, which holds surprisingly well. 24” stocky, well branched scapes carry up to 24 buds. A multiple bloomer, easily pod and pollen fertile. Winner “Best Seedling on Scape” Central Florida Show 2006."Single Division Only".
Value $75 SF
Christina Cook *Christina Cook (Kinnebrew, '08) (SC Tiny Perfection Sdlg x SC Perfect Angel) 2 ¾”, sev, rec, TET – Today’s full formed tets have all the bells and whistles! However, here we have something that you don’t see every day. This little angel has all the ruffling and complex edging of a modern, large flower, reduced to miniature status. Size really doesn’t matter, at least not in this particular case. Just above the foliage, clusters of peach-pink flowers glisten in the sunlight, each with a rose blush and a bubbling metallic gold edge. Named for Christina Cook, inspired youth member from Norfolk, Virginia. Our youth are the future of daylilies. Stocky 18” scapes carry up to 16 buds. Vigorous and easily fertile both ways.

Mississippi Earl Watts *Mississippi Earl Watts (Kinnebrew, '08)  (Belle Cook x Jerry Nettles) 6”, ev, rec, TET – This is one cool, smooth, southern gentleman to be sure. This description fits the man, as well as, the lily he has chosen to carry his name. Soothing flowers are crystal clear, lilac lavender with a large yellow starburst halo in the throat. Then, a wide yellow-gold, ruffled border compliments the throat perfectly. Our garden visitors were most impressed by this looker. Named for our long-time family friend, Earl Watts of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Nicely branched scapes are 24”, carrying up to 20 buds. Vigorous and fertile both ways.
Value $100 SF
Spacecoast Blood Diamond *Spacecoast Blood Diamond (Kinnebrew, '08) (SC Rebel Yell x Pure Indulgence)F2 6”, sev, rec, TET – We believe this to be our best “pure” red to date. With extremely heavy substance, flowers are full, ruffled and trimmed in gold. Although the edge itself is not overly large by today’s standards, it is a very strong characteristic, producing red seedlings with intense, wide gold edges. Judging from last year’s seed crop, this is our best red breeder. Husky plants have sturdy 30”scapes, carrying up to 20 buds. A strong seed producer, easily fertile both ways.
Value $100 SF
Spacecoast Fantastic Finish *Spacecoast Fantastic Finish (Kinnebrew, '08)  (Forbidden Fantasy x Jerry Nettles) x Mort Morss)) 6”, sev, rec, TET – With it’s star studded heritage, one can see how this cultivar might be an important breeder. If you like working with teeth, and want strong fertility, strong plant habit, and tall well branched scapes, this is an excellent find. Each flower is of medium burgundy-purple with lighter halo, and an ornate, white/yellow toothy edge. When pared with another parent having teeth, the results have been tremendous. Also, blooms open flawlessly and are never hung up or deformed. Again, this is a quality seed producer and potentially a valuable asset to an eager hybridizer. Scapes are nicely branched carrying
up to 20 buds.
Value $75 SF
Spacecoast Fringe Benefit *Spacecoast Fringe Benefit (Kinnebrew, '08) (Forestlake Ragamuffin X SC Sprawler)  x Mike longo)) 6 ½”, sev, rec, TET – Chartreuse edges are a hot item in the breeding world today, and Mike Longo has been our best tool in achieving this trait. This peach-pink blend has a real flashy border for sure, and, with its unique heritage, it is producing seedlings with chartreuse tentacles and teeth. Occasionally, you will see a darker blush along the border, producing a double picotee. However, this varies depending on night time temperatures. Scapes are 30” with fine branching and
up to 22 buds. Makes vigorous plants. Fertile both ways.
Value $100 SF
Spacecoast Gilded Robe *Spacecoast Gilded Robe (Kinnebrew, '08) (SC Surprise Purple x Jerry Nettles) x Alexa Kathryn)) 6”, ev, rec, TET – Alexa Kathryn is well renowned for her trademark gold edge. However, this Alexa offspring is a solid improvement over its noteworthy parent in virtually every aspect. Maintaining the monster edge, it shows better base color, better scape, and better flower consistence on a daily basis. Better bud count and better pod fertility are also apparent. Flowers are medium purple in color with a slightly light halo and a “whopper” gold edge. Well branched scapes are 24”, carrying up to 20 buds. Extremely fertile both ways.
Value $100 SF
Spacecoast Hope Beacon *Spacecoast Hope Beacon (Kinnebrew, '08) (Stone Beacon x SC Gold Bonanza) 6”, sev, rec, TET – To this day, nothing shows up better in the garden than a bright yellow daylily, and we especially like yellows which are not influenced by other colors, except perhaps green. This one fits that bill. Truly a garden beacon, flowers are full, round and nicely ruffled with intense yellow color. Secondly, plant habit is outstanding as well with lofty, very well branched scapes, numerous buds, and a large husky plant. Also, a multiple bloomer with 30” scapes having as many as 30 buds. A difficult pod parent, but pollen is very fertile.
Value $75 SF
Spacecoast Pattern Plus *Spacecoast Pattern Plus (Kinnebrew, '08) (SC Sea Shells x Lighter Than Air) 5 ¾”, ev, rec, TET – Sib to last year’s SC Behavior Pattern, this selection adds yet another dimension to the standard, appliqué, patterned daylily. It still has the striking pattern in the throat, but has sculpting coming into the eye zone as well. This unusual combination of characteristics makes a very attractive display. Flowers are round, ruffled, and lavender in color, with a darker eye & picotee edge. Scapes are a stocky 24”, holding as many as 20 buds. Easily fertile in both directions.

Value $100 SF
Spacecoast Tropical Twister *Spacecoast Tropical Twister (Kinnebrew, '08)(Doubly Delicious x SC Twice as Nice) 5 ¾”, sev, rec, TET – This cultivar has been on many of our customers’ want lists for some years. However, due to it’s slow increase habit, we are just now able to release it. Plants themselves grow very well, making large fans, but multiplication is often sparse. Beautiful, rich coral-rose color and metallic wire edge set this double apart from the competition. As with many doubles, early bloom may no be totally full, but flowers become more and more plump as the season progresses. Well branched 24” scapes hold up to 20 buds. Easily fertile, especially as a pod parent.
Value $100 SF
Spacecoast White Chocolate *Spacecoast White Chocolate (Kinnebrew, '08)(SC White Out x SC Cream Supreme) x J. T. Davis)) 6 ½”, sev, rec, TET – Of this year’s releases, this is certainly the most elegant and likely the most admired by garden visitors. Flowers are light-cream to near white with excellent form and substance. As it’s name suggest, it literally looks good enough to eat. Segments are wide and ruffled, opening flawlessly with each bloom. Unfortunately, this is one of those rare lilies for which a camera just can’t seem to capture the true garden beauty. Please, take our word it! Tall well branched scapes are 30” holding up to 24 buds. Easily fertile both ways, a quality seed producer for near whites.
Value $125 SF
The Butler Did It *The Butler Did It (Kinnebrew, '08) (Coquina Key X Fall Frolic) 5 ¾”, sev, rec, TET – Sculpted flowers are becoming more abundant. However, we’ve not come across anything similar to “The Butler”. Flowers are a rich, gold-peach blend with a rose sculpted eye zone. This lily has been most unusual, to us and everyone who has seen it blooming in the garden. Debbie Monbeck of Lexington, Kentucky asked us to
consider naming this plant to honor her late father. We are deeply honored to do so. “Stuart L. Butler” was a model humanitarian and his string of deeds and achievements in the state of Kentucky are far too numerous to list. Among them, and most impressive to us, was his work for Habitat for Humanity, for which he constructed some 20 homes for those in need. Who Did It? Stuart Butler Did It! Strong nicely branched scapes are 24”, carrying up to 24 buds. Vigorous plants are easily fertile both ways.

Who Do Voodoo *Who Do Voodoo (Kinnebrew, '08) (SC Shiner X Jane Trimmer) 6”, ev, rec, TET – Finally, we’re getting SC Shiner kids with some good flower size. With a cinnamon-orange base color and black eye, this standout is a full, well-rounded, 6” flower, with a dominate, wide picotee edge. No doubt, it would be the perfect Halloween décor! As with most SC Shiner seedlings, it is one of the largest plants in the yard with a corn stalk scape. Well branched scapes reach 30” and carry as many as 24 buds. Pollen fertile, but a difficult pod parent.

Iwanna Piranha *Iwanna Piranha (Kinnebrew, '07) (Forestlake Ragamuffin x Mort Morss) x Cosmic Sensation 6”, sev, rec, TET – Got Teeth!!  Boy, this one does, of the gold and white variety.  We love it, when “a plan comes together”.  The plan being to develop shark’s teeth on colors other than purple.  Although we’re not real sure how we got a coral-rose from this cross, we’re certainly glad we did!!  Not only did we get desirable color, but outstanding plant habit came with it.  Large fans generate lofty 34”, very well branched scapes, carrying up to 32 buds.  Even better yet!  Plants are easily fertile both ways.  This will likely prove to be the most important breeder that we have produced in the last several years.
