Avalonia Daylilies Introductions Offered

Mick has generously donated 4 signed, limited edition giclee prints of his fantastic artwork. The first of the prints is that of 'Dr. Jerrold Corbett' (Stamile, '08).  The original of this artwork will hang on the walls at Floyd Cover Nursery in Enterprise, Florida but attendees at the Can-Am will be able to see it in its original form as it is being delivered to Pat at the meeting.  A lot of care and meticulous work goes into these paintings and Mick's artwork is now being sought after by several hybridizers. Below is what this limited edition print  looks like framed.

The next print is that of the daylily known as ‘9 Point 5’ because that was the size of the bloom in Ted Petit’s garden.  This daylily won the title of the most expensive daylily to be auctioned off at a daylily meeting or convention to date, going for a whopping $7,500 during the Lake Tahoe International Convention 2008. The winning bidder gets the right to name this daylily, hybridized by Ted Petit of Le Petit Jardin – after which it will be registered. Wouldn't you love to have a print of this famous daylily hanging in your living room?

The third print Mick has also donated a print of one of his own works of art 'Canadian Barnburner' (Morry, '08). This flower, which was featured on the front cover of the Canadian Hemerocallis Society Journal Vol. 7, No. 2 - Summer/Fall 2008, also won the 2007 CHS meritorious seedling (full form) award.  The editor loved the print of this one so much it made the cover, unfortunately the printer didn't do it justice and it appeared too dark in the cover reproduction. Here is what the print actually looks like.

Finally the last print that Mick has donated is a print of 'Prince John' (Peat, '08) one that John Peat felt was one of the best gold edged red daylilies on the market. Many other people felt this was one of John's best which is why he sold out of it shortly after the catalogue was printed.

Congratulations on some very fine work Mick, and special thanks for donating these fine works of 'Daylily Art' to the Canadian-American Daylily Symposium.
