*GOLD PINWHEEL

*GOLD  PINWHEEL (Stamile, P.) TET 136-A (His Highness X Tetra Lemonfellow) 42” MRe. Ev. fe. Emo. 9” x 1 ¾” x 7/8”. 12” wingspan. Cascading unusual form. Spider ratio 3.6:1. 6-way branching. 55 buds. Strong erect scapes.  I treated LEMONFELLOW and got a chimera that reverted to being a diploid. Before it reverted I got a few seeds from the use of the pollen. I expected I would get some lemon yellows with a background of CAT’S CRADLE and SPIDER MIRACLE but to my surprise I got several melon golds from this cross. Where the melon gold came from I do not know. Certainly the twisting is consistent with the results from SPIDER MIRACLE which is the pod parent of LEMONFELLOW.  The name says it all with this cultivar. It is basically a melon gold with a deep green throat that is very round and curled to one side like a pinwheel. I love the effect of this cultivar in the garden with its large pinwheel shaped blooms on its fabulously well branched scapes. Fertile both ways but a difficult pod parent
