x 2 1/4” x 1 3/4”. 2 - 3 way branching. 18 - 20 buds. You might
ask why I introduce this flower with a low bud count when all of
the other “Candies” have high bud counts. There are three reasons.
First, I believe that the bud count and branching will be so much
better the farther north it goes. It comes from two hard dormants.
Secondly, if it never had better branching it is such a free spirited rebloomer.
It blooms and reblooms and reblooms so that in a season there is a wonderful
display. Third, HUCKLEBERRY CANDY has the bluest eye that I
have seen on a tetraploid. The blue is difficult to photograph and
lies between layers of charcoal, purple and lavender. The
form of HUCKLEBERRY CANDY is round and ruffled with especially wide sepals.
The base color is cream with layers of charcoal, gray-blue and purple in
the eye. It has a green throat. A gorgeous flower, I have crossed
it with Tetra BLUE MOON RISING and I can’t wait to see those kids bloom.
