*SONGWRITER (Stamile, P.) TET 1232-F [(San Ignacio x Ed Brown) X Tetra Grace Pierce] 25 EERe. Ev. vfr. emo. 6 ¾” x 3 ¾” x 2 ¾”. 6-way branching. 40 buds.  Called a “red” by those seeing it in the early season, SONGWRITER is really a deep, clear vibrant rose with a citron green throat. Blooms are exceptionally large with first blooms easily over 7” and petal width easily over 4”. It inherits this size from Tetra Grace Pierce which imparts both exceptional size and early bloom to its offspring. Tetra Grace Pierce can also impart muddiness but if you run it through a clear pink you will clarify the colors and certainly SONGWRITER and NANCY BILLINGSLEA are illustrative of this.  One of the finest Tetra Grace Pierce seedlings I have seen SONGWRITER seems to have it all – wonderful flutes and ruffles while opening flat and easily. Later blooms often have a fringey white edge on the edges of the ruffles.  Easily our best parent for big deep roses with gold edges SONGWRITER will make a big impact in the world of daylilies. Absolutely gorgeous and a personal favorite. Fertile both ways
