With the Navajo, when the patterns in a person’s life are in harmony with
the patterns of nature, you are said to "walk in beauty". Though I am not
a theologian, I would think it is somewhat akin to a “state of grace” in
Christianity. In any case, this is the pink
sibling to WINTER SPRINGS and like WINTER SPRINGS it has a white base,
but instead of the creamy chartreuse coloration there is a medium rose
pink wash. The flowers are very large and are often 7” or more on first
bloom. The form is round with a definite gold edge. The scapes are tall,
erect and well branched with the branches wide and well placed. Every year
I am asked which is my favorite of my introductions. This is difficult
since it is like picking a favorite child. You just don’t do it. They are
all special to me. Still, if I could only have one of this years full forms
to take with me it would be WALKING IN BEAUTY. It best represents all that
goes into making what I consider a great daylily. May you all, like this
daylily, walk in beauty. Fertile both ways
