*ARMED AND DANGEROUS (Peat, '01) -- Opal Ring x {[(Gail Fox) (F2)] Mardi Gras Ball} Sev., 9" Fl., 30" Sc., M., 30 buds. This Unusual Formed daylily thrilled me when I first saw it bloom. Although this daylily fits into the Unusual Form category, it may also fit into the 'Spider Variant' category. It has the potential to be an excellent spider breeder, for a completely different look in spiders. ARMED AND DANGEROUS carries a complex eye, complete with deep veining which bleeds all the way out from the green throat to the petal edges. The petal self is orchid purple with hints of burgundy. The eye is made up of three bands of color, the inner band being of a burgundy purple/charcoal, while the middle band is of a lighter slate color, bleeding out to a darker band of rose purple. The petals and sepals have a wire white edge surrounding a slight picotee. The sepals often twist and spoon making it an exotic and unusual cultivar.
