In a clump reminds one of the lava coming from a tall volcano, with shades of cooling lava intermixed.  Wine purple with darker Halo and lighter mid ribs. Green throat. One of the great garden performers. Great for the early season.  Also has a long bloom season. Easy fertile both ways.
